We are currently experiencing a great in-gathering of spiritual fruit here in the Kamea Region! God has blessed abundantly in the last two weeks and we have seen many souls come to Christ. A turning point was experienced two weeks ago on Friday when the national preachers were confronted after preaching in the market.
Several of our Bible School graduates, led by Pastor James Naudi, have been preaching every Friday in the Kotidanga market for the last five years, and have seen tremendous fruit from the “market preaching.” Two weeks ago, after their preaching, a man stood up to vocalize his displeasure in their public preaching. He loudly asked in front of the market why these preachers continue to come every week. He went on to tell the preachers to quit and not come back. Later, unprovoked threats were made towards the preachers, implying that the next time they preached in the market would result in their being beaten. This was the first time anyone has shown publicly that he was angry over the open preaching. The preachers made a pact among themselves—they would continue preaching, (harmless as doves), and would only allow Pastor James to answer public threats (wise as serpents). If a beating were to be the result, they would merely take the beating without fighting back.
In the mean time, several lost people stood publicly in the market and remarked how they had seen the Word of God change the lives of the believers in Kotidanga, and that they felt that the market preaching was needed.
In the mean time, several lost people stood publicly in the market and remarked how they had seen the Word of God change the lives of the believers in Kotidanga, and that they felt that the market preaching was needed. God allowed this to be a confirmation of His blessing on the young men’s work.
The following Friday, the preachers went to the market and did exactly what they have every Friday. They preached the Word of God. Afterward, two men came to Pastor James’s house to “have a talk with him.” He did not know what they were coming for, but was thrilled to find out that they were coming to find out more about this Jesus that was being preached about. Both men, with tears, accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour!
The following Sunday, I traveled down to Suwatua Baptist Church (the church I started before our furlough). I had the privilege of preaching after one of our graduates Jack Naudi. Jack preached a great message, and we saw four adults get saved. My preaching, while hesitant and broken from the lack of linguistic fluency that comes as a result of living and thinking in a foreign language, was still understood and four more adults got saved. Eight souls came to Christ last Sunday (December 20).
This week, we are having the Christmas Revival here in Kotidanga. We have had two of the four services now, and in each of the two services, we have had two people get saved. Two last night, and two again this morning. Please pray for the last two services of this Christmas Revival that God would convict hearts and save sinners.
Allow me to give you some names to remember in prayer specifically:
Allow me to give you some names to remember in prayer specifically. 1) Augustine is my closest neighbor, and has only come to a single church service over the past six years. He has now come to every church service at Kotidanga for the last two weeks, and I believe that God is working on his heart. Please pray that we will see Augustine get saved this weekend. 2) Pita is a very old man and has never gone to church in his life. He has now come for three services in a row. Please pray for his salvation. 3) Yali is Pita’s grown son. Yali has now come for the two revival services. Pray for Yali to get saved as well.
Thank you for your prayer! May the Lamb receive the just reward of His suffering, both here in the Kamea and around the world, on this the celebrated anniversary of His birth.
UPDATE – MONDAY – DECEMBER 28th
We finished our Christmas Revival last evening, and saw the Lord do some amazing things throughout the entire meeting! In all, 24 people got saved, including Augustine and Yali! Thank you for praying for these guys! Continue to pray for Peter, the old man. Pastor James Naudi and I made a visit to his house today, however, he did not receive Christ as his Saviour. He did say that he will be coming for more church services, and that he is still interested. He just is not ready yet. Please do pray for him.
It has been a very busy weekend, however a very fruitful one. When the harvest is ready, we should not waste time worrying about exhaustion.
