Photo Journal - June 2010

Packed out Sunday school. Preaching in the market. Teaching Pidgin and Kamea Literacy classes. Lashing a 3/4 mile bamboo aqueduct through the treetops. Breaking ground for a new clinic.

From Matt: We have two pipelines made from bamboo that are bringing water from streams uphill to a hand-dug pond at the top of the airstrip. From the pond, a 4” pipe will release the water flow into the channel. Men standing along the sides of the channel will break off dirt into the flow of water which will carry the dirt to the lower end of the airstrip where we need fill dirt. This process has been used many times here in PNG to build airstrips, and we have brought Ricky Beyaba from the Highlands to help us. Ricky has done this on two other airstrips already.
